Abstract

Quick set glue may be used to hold flanges onto the ends of a photoreceptor wherein the photoreceptor may be in the form of a cylinder. However, the glue occasionally will get on the surface of the photoreceptor causing it to be rejected. The glue also poses a problem when one desires to salvage the photoreceptor. The substrate (fabricated from for example aluminum) must be separated from the flanges before the substrate can be sold for scrap. Because of the difficulty in loosening or removing the glue, the separation may be achieved by sawing the substrate just inside the glued portion of the photoreceptor. The center portion of the substrate can then be sold as scrap. The flanges, glue, and remaining parts of the substrate still glued to the flanges are sent to the landfill. Typically, neither the flange nor the glue is conductive and therefore a grounding strip may be required between the photoreceptor substrate and the metal drive shaft. There is a need for a way to firmly hold the flanges to the substrate which does not require glue and wherein the flanges can be detached from the substrate for salvage and/or reclaim of the components. This may eliminate all the glue induced rejects, reduce the amount of material sent for disposal, and save monies.
