Abstract

Applied voltage has been the critical parameter for cleaning a photoresponsive imaging surface with a brush. Recent data indicates that along with voltage, the current carrying capability of the brush is also a critical parameter required to maintain a cleaning latitude. In the past, a standard brush cleaner relied on a single point contact for continuity. The contact possesses high resistance, which in turn, limits current. It is proposed that the cleaner be modified by gluing the drive arbors to the brush end caps so as to provide a current path having minimal resistance.
