Abstract

The present proposal addresses a separate finishing station for feeding inserts that do not require imaging. The paper path would bypass the xerographic subsystems of a copying machine to improve machine process time for compiling output documents. Separate trays allow for the addition of inserts printed before the rest of the document in which they are to appear. Such inserts may comprise a cover, color transparencies, three-dimensional color charts (in an otherwise back and white document), and tab stock. The proposal offers an advantage for expanding the user's capability to easily format cosmetically appealing reports. In addition, the present proposal allows for efficient utilization of customer consumables.
