Abstract

Disclosed is the use of an antistatic coating layer, for example, ARTWRIGHTS SUPER CLEAR 106, for VERDE'" films. In addition to preventing charge accumulation, the antistatic film has to be transparent, humidity insensitive, heat resistant and have low UV absorption. These requirements are all met by this material. Without the antistatic layer, electric sparks are observed during the imaging and development steps, causing degradation of image quality. The ARTWRIGHTS SUPER CLEAR 106 is a dispersion of indium-tin oxide.

VERDE'" digital films are to used in the graphic arts industry as a replacement for silver halide film masters. An advantage of the VERDE films is that the development process is totally dry, unlike the silver halide film process. This enables modified imagesetters to output film and develop the film without using any solvent chemicals. The manufacturing and imaging process of VERDE films have been described, see for example, the references below.

                   EXAMPLE 1 FILM GENERATION Super Clear 106 was coated on one side of a polyester film sheet. The other side of the sheet is semitransparent or transparent conductive layer. No blocking was observed during vacuum deposition of photosensitive particles.
