Abstract

It is proposed that h e r elements with tailored properties can be created by imbedding functional materials into a non-swellable TEFLON@ foam similar to that produced by Illbruck Co. Examples are a dimensionally stable silicone oil filled TEFLON@ sponge that cannot swell and a carbon loaded silicone elastomer that is cured within the TEFLON@ foam. Optional known fillers can be added to impart properties such as conductivity, hardness, and strength to this TEFLON@ matrix.
