The gluing and insertion of the flanges into the P/R tube is a costly operation with associated cleanup and preventative maintenance costs. The following description provides a simpler and lower cost P/R assembly solution.

At post electroforming, the ends of the nickel tubes can be cut to proper length to eliminate endedge nickel irregularities. The ends can be prepared, pinched or crimped, inwardly to create smaller inside diameter tabs. The plastic flanges can then be automatically assembled, that is, for example, robotically, press fitted to the crimped tube or drum and thereby obviating the aforementioned gluing step.
