A flowchart of a currency detection algorithm is shown in the accompanying figure. The procedure begins at step 10. Information by way of a stored image enters the printing machine at step 20. The machine then scans the document according to the characteristics of the stored image. At step 30, the shape of the document is compared to a rectangle. A rectangular document causes the algorithm to branch to step 40. Step 40 compares the document size to length and width dimensions of 6.0 and 2.5 inches.
