Abstract

Disclosed is a device to assist an operator in replacing a single printbar from a four bar printbar system without having to open the seal between the maintenance system and the printbars. The four printbar system is located in a printbar holding frame by locating the first printbar against datums which are in turn located on the holding frame. The rest of the printbars are located off each other and are spring loaded into the printbar frame. The printbars are capped with a maintenance system. Removing a printbar normally would require a tool to restrain the other printbars. The tool disclosed here is comprised of a frame with four individual printbar capture and hold devices. The capture and hold function is enabled by known mechanical clamping technology. Individual printbars can be then be removed from "captured" array using the tool by simple extraction.
