Abstract

Proposed is a clip-on cap that provides an easy to use method for flushing away contaminates in printhead cartridge nozzles. As shown in the accompanying figure, clip-on cap 14 having a foam membrane 12 attached thereto is placed on printhead cartridge 10 by way of a snap fit. One skilled in the art will recognized that cartridge 10 is initially removed from a printer. Foam 12 is fded with approximately 0.2 to 0.3 gram of a cleaning fluid and pumped several times to pressurize the fluid therein. In its simplest form, the cleaning fluid is composed of an mk vehicle without any dye or additives that are solids at room temperature.
