Abstract

Proposed is the use of a coated grid work that covers the open face of an Infrared (UR) dryer in an ink jet printer. The design of the grid construction utilizes wires or bars placed parallel to the paper feed direction to hold the paper flat and eliminate jams. An energy absorbing coating (e.g., heat paint or black anodize) covers the side of the grid facing the dryer. The energy absorbing coating aids in warming up the grid and transfers heat to portions of the paper unaffected by the I/R dryer.
