Abstract

Proposed is an on-board, full width Magnetic Image Character Reader MICR placed in a paper path to read the magnetic strength of images as it moves over an entire page on a MICR product. The proposed implementation reduces a user's time spent in taking random signal strength readings while running samples at predetermined print counts. Implementation verses on-line MICR signals continuously. The reader can be turned on or off by way of an icon on a User Interface UI. Additionally, the machine shuts down during a MICR required job application or when the MICR detects signal strengths below a specified level. Usage of the on-board reader allows a customer to know at what check number a failure occurred.
