Abstract

Disclosed is a printing method which, automatically or upon operator invocation, highlights distribution information, such as the names or other identlfylng information of routing recipients or locations, when an original document containing distribution list information is printed or copied. In embodiments, a printing or copying machine equipped with a recognition sensor detects distribution list information on a document, such as an electronic fie or paper original document. Depending upon the printing hardware configuration available, as in a digital printer or light lens copier, the detected distribution list information is processed such that, for example, the respective individual names of the recipients on list are successively printed in highlight color. The highlight color printed documents are easier to sort and distribute, and have added recognition value as perceived by the recipient.
