Abstract

Disclosed is a method for reducing overall xerographic printing machine power requirements by recognizing power usage is a function of paper size when the machine is operated at constant copy rate. The method comprises modifying the copy rate or throughput with, for example, a software look up table, and reducing the copy rate according to increasing paper size with the result being that power consumption is reduced for larger size papers. This method has additional advantages of increasing the Me of certain machine components, such as, fuser rolls, and providing an alternative operational mode in countries or localities where power constraints are significant.
