Disclosed is an apparatus that applies a gloss finish to a printed plain paper copy to enhance its appearance to that of paper used in offset printing. The disclosed apparatus may be added to a xerographic product.

As shown in the accompanying figure, copy sheet 10 is printed by a conventional dry xerographic process comprising paper transport 20, photoreceptor 22 and a fuser 24. one or both sides of copy sheet 10 as required. Afterward copy sheet 10 enters a drying station B where the coating is fmed to the copy by an air drying system 34. Alternatively, a radiant fuser can be employed at station B instead of the air drying system 34. The coated copy sheet 10 exits the drying station B and enters an output device (not shown) such as a tray or finisher.
