Abstract

Disclosed is the capability of adding a power on password to electrophotographic printers and copiers much like the passwords used in computer systems. Presently an "auditron" device monitors the usage of the printer or copier and is usualzy the only means of detecting unwanted operation during non-business hours. The power on password prevents after-hour usage by those not possessing the appropriate password.
