Abstract

Disclosed is a means for identifying toner taken from an electrophotographic printer or copier for reclaiming purposes. The means includes marking a toner bottle with detectable marks identlfylng the toner manufacturer or mixture contained therein. The marks actuate an apparatus for stamping reclaim bottles with information about the used toner transferred thereto.

Reclaiming toner from electrophotographic machines is a highly desirable alternative to depositing toner in landfills. Moreover, identlfyrng the waste toner eliminates potential copy quality problems caused by mixing toners from different manufacturing processes together for reuse in an electrophotographic machine.
