Abstract

This disclosure describes a two-step measurement process using dial gauges to check the alignment between an auger shaft and a funnel. As shown in Figure 1, dial gauges 12 and 14 mount to an extension tube 16 attached to auger drive shaft 20. Auger drive shaft 20 passes through the interior of a funnel 28 located on a bracket 30. The dial gauges 12 and 14 mount to tube 16 by means of an assembly 26 and an assembly 24. Dial gauge plungers 34 and 36 indicate any displacement of tube 16 to a surface 32 on bracket 30. The placement of assembly 24 is near surface 32 and the placement of the assembly 26 is approximately 6 to 8 inches thereunder.
