figure form one end of a passive system for tracking the photoconductive belt member (not shown) used in an electrophotographic-printing machine. The bearing block 16 may be one of the side frames of a belt module (not shown).

The outside diameter of bearing 12 is slightly larger than the diameter of the low lateral force roll 10. One bearing 12 each is respectively pressed with its inner race onto a mating end of roll 10 making them an integral part of roll 10 and the edge guide design. An outer race 14 or flange of bearing 12 functions to guide the photoconductive belt at each end of roll 10. The two essential requirements for the edge guide are that the guide is a smooth, hard surface and that the guide itself is stationary.
