Abstract

Disclosed is a machine identification report for electrophotographic printers. The information as well as a failed part allows analysts to reconstruct the failure mode and its root cause. A machine diagnostic routine invokes the report comprising the date, time, machine serial number and the current copy count. A Customer Service Representative (CSR) encloses the report with the defective part being returned from a serviced machine.
