Abstract

Disclosed is an apparatus for accurately measuring the normal force within any print cartridge.Al1 single component development print cartridges contain charge-metering blades. These blades control both the amounts of toner and the toner charge subsequently delivered to a developer roll. Thus, the normal force of the charge blade is a critical parameter that also controls developer roll coating wear, print quality, and toner consumption. The need to accurately understand the normal force during either a domestication activity or a clean sheet design is critical from a cost, performance, and development time perspective.

housing tolerances or dimensions; and correlation was required that also proved to be inaccurate.

The disclosed apparatus, however, accurately measures the normal force within a print cartridge thereby eliminating all previous problems.

Device 10, shown as a front view in Fig. 1, comprises a two piece cylinder machined to the same length and diameter of the developer roll that it replaces.
