Abstract

Disclosed is a thick platen cover composed of at least two inches of highly compressible foam that allows the platen cover on an electrophotographic printing machine to close completely when copying anything from a single document to very large books. The platen frame would be made from a rigid material which, when closed, forms a box around the original document. The foam interior holds the original document tightly against the platen glass and surrounds it to eliminate the entrance of ambient light.

At least one non-text object (such as an image or picture) has been suppressed.
