Proposed Classification

Int. C1. G03g 15/00

Disclosed is the use of vertical scroll tabs on the display control panel of an electrophotographic printing machine. Currently the interfaces are constrained by many features that render navigation and comprehension of feature content as a problem by casual users.

In order to reduce the feature set into substantial amounts of manageable dialog, designers presently place related features behind metaphorical file folders, arranged in a natural horizontal pattern on the electronic display. Selecting a tab discloses a work area with selectable features or selection buttons to engage features.

This disclosure, however, offers to present horizontal tabs or file folders in a vertical scrolling arrangement to utilize given space more efficiently and logically. Roundly shaped icons representing features are arranged in a column while text elements such as messages, titles, and status information, for example, being linear in nature are best displayed in rows above the work area. The tabs may be located on the right display side for a touch system and if mouse activated, they should be located on the opposite, or left side.
