Disclosed are pull-down tabs for user interface navigation on the display control panel of an electrophotographic printing machine. More tab icons are added to the control panel screen by utilizing one visible tab labeled as "Added Tabs" to present an additional list of formerly non-visible tabs. When selected, more tabs are displayed.

Space taken up by multiple tabs displayed on the control panel is minimized while accessing is grouped. When accessing additional tabs by use of a pull-down tab window, the additional tabs will be shown in sets. Should the user select a tab within a pull-down set, the new set replaces the original set of tabs and the tab selected is opened. In this way, groupings or sets of tabs that are related remain together. The user is then able to build a mental model of the tabs and their locations that never vary.
