Abstract

Disclosed is the use of a switch actuator that provides two separate and distinct functions in an electrophotographic printing machine. The dual purpose switching actuator 1 shown in the accompanying figure consists of a sensor 10 with a first actuator 12 contained in a second actuator 14. The two actuators 12 and 14 each have a separate and different axis

.of rotation 16 and 18 which, provide responses for two different modes of input controlled by machine timing and firmware. Use of the dual purpose switching actuator and associated wiring reduces the Unit Manufacturing Cost (UMC) of a printing machine when compared to other printing machines using single mode actuators.
