Method for Providing Plugable Filtering and Correlation at an Event Source

Typical event management solutions provide the capability to filter out events at an event source. However, a major short coming is the lack of the ability to allow vendors or customers the means to create and plug their own specific filtering mechanisms. The application submitting the events would best understand the data and be in a position to provide its own filtering and correlation logic based on that data. The modules receive events from the event management API and based upon event attributes may behave autonomically by querying external sources for information to determine how to act on the event.

As the event management API is processing an event it will check for pluggable filtering and correlation. If found, the appropriate module will be invoked, otherwise the event will be sent to the event destination.
