Description

              The disclosed method is an extender/adapter that enables a Type II PC Card (standard 2.1, July 1993, Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) to be used inside the ExpressCard (standard 1.0, February 19, 2003, Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) socket. This extender/adapter has a socket for the standard Type II PC Card on one end and an ExpressCard mating connector, making the ExpressCard connector backward compatible (see Figure 1).

•             Improved functionality due to enabling the use of PC Card and ExpressCard compatible devices

•             Improved cost effectiveness due to providing a PC Card connection for the cost of a cheaper ExpressCard socket
