TOLM is used as intermediate in the preparation of 4-(1-Hydroxy-1-methylethyl)-2- propyl-1-[2'-(1H-tetrazole-5-yl)biphenyl-4-ylmethyl]imidazole-5-carboxylic acid 5- methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxol-4-ylmethyl ester. The chemical name of this compound is: 4-(1-Hydroxy-1-methylethyl)-2-propyl-1-[2'-(trityl-tetrazole-5-yl)biphenyl-4- ylmethyl]imidazole-5-carboxylic acid 5-methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxol-4-ylmethyl ester. Different samples of TOLM were purchased from Beijing Lianben Pharm (supplier: Dalian) and Suzhou Daxin (supplier: Billion), and were analyzed by X-Ray powder diffraction and found to contain one crystalline form B.

The X-Ray Powder Diffraction were performed an ARL (Scintag) X-Ray powder diffractometer model X'TRA, Cu-tube, solid-state detector. A round standard aluminum holder with round background plate was used. Scanning parameters: 2 - 40°θ continuous scan, rate: 5°/min.
