Abstract

Many patents exist for inflow control devices being used to provide equalized inflow into a well. These patents describe this equalized inflow being used to avoid water and gas coning. It was discovered that inflow control devices can be used to reduce annular flow in stand-alone screen completions thereby preventing erosion and increasing screen longevity.
