Abstract

This document describes how to easily publish on internet (or intranet) pages including texts, graphics and tables issued from text data files, in order to produce a friendly and easy to use and maintain Customer Reporting. Some existing products give an alternate solution to this problem: these products are interactive products used to make real time data analysis instead automatic data reporting.

Automatic Customer Reporting Published on Web

The invention is based on a software process with two Inputs and one Output : INPUTS : One or more text "Data Files", and one "Setup" File.

OUTPUT : A complete ready to use HTML Report with summary, graphics, tables, texts and links.

Advantages : - Easy to install and setup on a Windows Server,

              - Easy to test and run, - No complex HTTP Server administration, - Fully automatic process, - Multiple text data file formats allowed (csv, fixed lenght records, special fields separators ...),

- Automatic monthly History, - Fully custom graphics, - The source data files can be integrated on the Report, - Automatic generation of the Summary.

The following diagram shows the data process :

Step 1 : The Process to be analysed generates one or more text data files. The data files are sended to the Web Server.

Step 2 : The Report Generation is launched automatically with a schedulled task. According with the Setup File, the final report is created using HTML format. The pages are located on the Web Server.

Step 3 : Users can login on the Web Server to read the Report

    With interactive products used to make real time data analysis instead automatic data reporting, the generated Web pages are not a Final Report. The

Final Report is accessed by the user with manual selection of items and data on the Web pages. With the solution of invention, the user can access Final Report without any manual operations.

    In addition, the interactive products used to make real time data analysis instead automatic data reporting need a lot of files to be created and maintained in order to produce and access Web pages :

Model Files (one per Web Page), Summary Page to access the Web pages (description of links), Cognos User Administration file, The HTTP Configuration file.

  The invention solution only needs two files : The Setup File, The HTTP Configuration file.
