Abstract

To better meet the consumer needs, it is proposed to use the Buddy-List Mechanism defined for the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) Presence Service to send announcements to the subscribers. For each service type, a buddy-list (e.g. games, buisiness services, etc.) is created, to which the user can subscribe. Hereby, each entry of the buddy-list represents a service and its state (e.g. planned, operative, maintained,…). If a new service is introduced, it is added to the respective buddy-list(s) and a notification is sent to the subscribed users. Also, for each state change of the service, a notification may be sent. Similary, buddy-lists can be used to represent the categories of a given service (e.g. of a news sevice). Again the user is notified if a new category is available.
