Abstract

When sending e-mail correspondence containing file attachments, it is necessary that all individuals addressed by the correspondence receive those attachments. This is so even when recipient groups or individuals need not receive those attachments, only the text message indicating that it was sent, when, by and to whom. This disclosure describes a simple method of implementing all conditions involved.

Currently, it seems necessary to actually send both text and file attachments to all individuals addressed by a single e-mail message, whether directly addressed (To:) or copied (cc: or bcc:). This forced requirement currently necessitates computer CPU execution cycles, network bandwidth, and storage space (overhead) that could be released for more beneficial and intentional purposes.

This invention simply suggests a software mechanism that allows the sender of an e-mail message with single or multiple attachments to designate (1) those individuals who are to receive the subject message with attachment/s and (2) those individuals who are to receive the subject message only with assurance that the subject attachment/s (by filename/s) was/were sent, when, by and to whom, or (3) any other valid permutation. There are twelve permutations to send and/or withhold text and/or graphics to three common e-mail recipient types, (To:, cc:, and bcc:). This disclosure envisions permutations associated with any number of recipient types.

In this example, of a possible twelve, only six valid permutations require selection, two for each recipient type, as follows:

"Yes", "Yes", the default, requires no input.

"No", "No" is invalid and is disallowed.

"Yes", "No" and "No", "Yes" are the only two valid selections.
