Abstract

In a stretch wrapping machine, side clamps are closed by electric solenoids to grab film and hold it while moving apart from one anothter in order to stretch it to sufficient width to cover a package. After package is pushed through the stretched film by the elevator, side folders position film underneath the package as the film is being released by the side clamps. Side folders then support the package until it is picked up by the front and rear folders and then move back to the home position. These two operations are typically done with entirely separate mechanisms.
