into liquid Laundry detergents

TINOFIX CL® improves the wash fastness of a broad range of textile dyes that are prone to wash out during repeated laundry treatments and reduces the transfer of dye onto other fabrics. Due to its cationic nature, the dye fixation effect of TINOFIX CL® is gradually impaired with increasing anionic surfactant content in the detergent. At higher anionic surfactant level, only the dye transfer inhibition effect of TINOFIX CL® remains. Also, it is more difficult to achieve a clear and stable liquid with TINOFIX CL® at high anionic surfactant levels, since precipitation of surfactant-complexes is likely to occur, especially at low temperature. That means that your color care laundry liquid with TINOFIX CL® must be carefully adjusted with respect to stability and effect.

The following examples and comments serve to illustrate the formulation range at usual incorporation level of TINOFIX CL®.

For example, excellent dye fixation with TINOFIX CL® is observed in laundry liquids containing 13% fatty acid and 2% LAS, and stable formulations with anionic content up to 5% LAS or 7% AES (active matter) are possible.

 

The formulations listed are stable for at least three months at 4°C, room temperature and 60°C.

Manufacturing instruction:

For better handling, melt the fatty acid and the alcohol ethoxylate, and cool down to about 40°C before incorporation. Check for evaporation of the alcohol. Make sure that the mixture is homogenous before adding the next ingredient.

Dissolve the fatty acid into the mixture of propylene glycol and iso-propanol. Stir in the anionic surfactant followed by ethanolamine. Add the alcohol ethoxylate, then potassium hydroxide solution and the citric acid solution. Stir in the water, followed by TINOFIX CL®.
