Abstract

A diagnostic compound used in the drug coating of stents. To determine the coated and uncoated parts of the stent, and thus increase its efficacy, the compound makes the overall coating surface visible using a solution incorporating a fluorescent compound comprising of calcofluor white with a concentration of .001 - 20 wt.% of the solution. The compound is then sprayed under a normal electrostatic coating process and dried. The coated stent is made visible with a black-light source.
