In an embodiment, a pressure relief mechanism for remote heat exchanger in an X-ray apparatus comprises a low-pressure relief valve 10 coupled in parallel to a solenoid valve 12 in an oil return line 20. The oil return line 20 connects an X-ray tube 40 and a reservoir 50 of a remote heat exchanger 55.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001]   This invention relates to pressure relief mechanisms, and more particularly, to a pressure relief mechanism for a remote heat exchanger in an X-ray apparatus.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]   Generally, in an X-ray apparatus connected to a remote heat exchanger, on shutdown of the X-ray tube, the oil inside the X-ray tube flows down due to gravity to a reservoir of the heat exchanger.  This results in cavity (air bubble) formation inside the tube.  The formation of air bubble may cause high voltage instability and bad cooling performance inside the X-ray tube.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0003]    In an embodiment, a pressure relief mechanism for remote heat exchanger in an X-ray apparatus comprises a low-pressure relief valve coupled in parallel to a solenoid valve in an oil return line.  The oil return line connects an X-ray tube and a reservoir of a remote heat exchanger.
