Abstract

This disclosure describes a favorite/custom tab among other tabs (Basic copying, image adjustment...) with the possibility to modify and add functions that the customer is most likely to use. There could also be a folder of most recently or frequently used options as well as the possibility to set such a folder as the default.

This text was extracted from a Microsoft Word document.
At least one non-text object (such as an image or picture) has been suppressed.
This is the abbreviated version, containing approximately 100% of the total text.

Customizable Graphical User Interface to Enable Faster and More Convenient Usage of a Multifunction Copier/Printer/Fax/Scanner

On Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) in Multifunction Copier/Printer/Fax/Scanners, available selections are divided in many separate windows (e.g. Basic Copying, Image Quality, Output format, Job assembly).  To make selection, the user may have to navigate several windows each time for each selection.

Customizable / adaptive GUI:

As with a PC where the user (or key operator) can modify the desktop (content, places and names of icons etc), there could be similar features on Copy/Printer GUI.  There could be a favorite/custom tab among other tabs (Basic copying, image adjustment...) with the possibility to modify and add functions that the customer is most likely to use.   There could also be a folder of most recently or frequently used options as well as the possibility to set such a folder as the default.

Picture 1:  Example of customized tab. If customer never uses collation, s/he might want to replace it with a more frequently used option (here contrast).
