Abstract

This invention proposes a variation on this model, specifically the addition of personalized images within a personalized image. With this invention, the customer initially follows the current steps for production of a personalized book: a) select a story, and b) specify personalized text information. At this point, the invention proposes the personalized book creation application contain "story picture templates" that the customer can print to their own printer. The story picture templates are simply sheets containing a rectangular drawing region with text underneath that explains what the picture should be. The customer's child draws all the pictures on these templates. The customer sends all the completed story picture templates with the personalized information to the publisher/print house.

Method and Apparatus for Personalized Books with Personal Illustrations

Existing personalized books provide text-only personalization.  This invention proposes personalized books where the “personalized information” consists of text and image information.  The advantage is that the additional personalization provided through the inclusion of images.

Personalized books have become one of the uses for “on demand” printing.  Personalized books are targeted as gifts for children.  Existing personalized books allow the purchaser to specify a few pieces of “personalized information” that is then inserted into the story.  The personalized information consists of a dedication, characters’ names, and possibly the town name.  The publishing/printing shop then prints the purchased copies of the “personalized” book with the “personalized information” filled in appropriately within the story.  The hardcopy personalized book is sent to the purchaser.
