Abstract

A frequent problem in photoreceptor production is the overspray of bar code ink onto active sections or areas of the photoreceptor being labeled. This causes print quality defects that result in product reject. This disclosure proposes the addition of small amounts of a fluorescent dye be added to the ink that can be seen by a black light/photosensor arrangement that is sensitive to the fluorescent wavelength of the dye.

A frequent problem in photoreceptor production is the overspray of bar code ink onto active sections or areas of the photoreceptor being labeled. This causes print quality defects that result in product reject.

This disclosure proposes the addition of small amounts of a fluorescent dye be added to the ink that can be seen by a black Iight/photosensor arrangement that is sensitive to the fluorescent wavelength of the dye. It will monitor bar code ink overspray in areas on the photoreceptor where overspray has been a historical problem. The device would be linked to an alarm. It could also be linked to print out the footage number where the overspray was detected.
