Abstract

Disclosed is a means for providing protection for fiber-optic cables at the point where the cables exit a frame of a data-processing device. A boot 2 acts as a guide and protector for cables 3. The boot will house cables, thus providing protection from pulling and sharp corners. The boot is made of a medium durometer rubber which will allow the bending stresses to be transferred from the cables to the boot by means of the compliant nature of the material. The boot is designed with a 50 mm radius 4 molded into the base 5. This radius will enable a 100 Newton instantaneous (e.g., at installation) load or a 75 Newton long term load to be applied from any direction (e.g., 360 degrees) without damage occurring. The boot is attached to a frame member through a metal insert 6 by means of a single captive screw 7.
