Low frequency magnetic emissions, such as those from video sweep circuits, can be detected with improved accuracy by providing a battery powered, small diameter loop antenna with fall off in gain below 6 KHz and flat frequency and phase response from 6 KHz to 250 KHz.

Referring to the figure, the portable antenna has a twenty-turn electrostatically shielded coil 1 of 45 cm diameter at the end of wand 2 with housing 3. The housing contains high pass integrating amplifier 4 and batteries, indicated schematically at 5. An RF connector 6 is attached tot he amplifier output for convenient cable coupling. The small loop antenna facilitates close proximity to a unit under test and insures sensing a more uniform magnetic flux concentration.
