The presented process uses a high relative humidity green sheet storage environment to achieve improved bulk green sheet stabilization.

Screening a green sheet with a standard paste causes movement of the vias punched in the sheet. This results in poor registration at the edge of the sheet, limits the maximum size of the substrate, and constrains the choice of screening paste. A three-fold improvement in green sheet stability occurs when sheets are placed into a greater than 90% relative humidity chamber for several days prior to punching. This humidification treatment removes green sheet internal strain.

The humidification process could be implemented, in manufacturing, by using a humidifier to increase green sheet storage crib relative humidity to over 90% relative humidity.
