The proposed mounting frame permits field or plant installation of units, such as passbook processing units in banking machines. Due to restricted access and limited space, the mounting mechanism is horizontally and vertically movable to retract the passbook unit from its operating position. In addition, the mounting mechanism is rotatable for easy installation, removal or maintainance of the passbook unit.

Two mechanisms are integrated in the mounting frame. A turntable 1 affords rotary motion through an angle of 120o, with two plastic rings 2 acting as a bearing. A linear sliding system 3, actuated by a threaded spindle 4, affords horizontal and vertical motion, as illustrated in Fig. 1.

Unit 10 can be fitted to mounting frame 9 by one person. For this purpose, unit 10 is placed on frame 9 and secured by four bent tabs 5, 6 on supporting side walls 7 of unit 10. The two tabs 6 comprise a pierced and a shaped portion engaging detents 8 in frame 9 for positioning unit 10. Each of the four tabs 5, 6 is fastened by a mounting screw 11 (Fig. 2).

For positioning, unit 10 is automatically aligned to front panel access slot 12 both horizontally and vertically. Two tabs 13 on unit frame 14 are inserted into matching slots 15 on front panel 16 of the banking machine via nylon ramps projecting therefrom.
