Automatic Addressing of Outgoing Mail

Provided is a technique which automatically addresses outgoing mail in order to overcome the difficulties of current electronic mail techniques.

The user is provided with conventional electronic mail function. However, the user is also provided with the capability of defining multiple outbaskets to which mail can be moved via mouse or keyboard techniques. The outbaskets are "configured" to automatically supply target information for mail items placed in them. For example, an inbasket can be configured to send mail items to a specific individual or to the people on a distribution list. The user can define multiple outbaskets in this manner. No typing of addressing information is required after the initial configuration of the outbasket.

The benefits to the user include new function, reduced keystrokes for mailing items to "frequent targets", enhanced productivity and usability, and a more natural method of sending mail.
