Abstract

The moisture sensitive High Tc superconductors such as the YBa2Cu3O7-whave been coated with parylene to provide environmental protection. In addition to the barrier provided by this insulating coating, parylene deposits at room temperature, thereby preserving the integrity of the superconductor. The coating is conformal so that the parylene will permeate the highly porous ceramic structure and protect it from the environment. The insulator coating could act as a separation layer for multilayer wiring. These coatings retain their integrity, even after many cycles, to liquid helium temperatures.
