Work on a Chassis

Disclosed is a arrangement to enhance serviceability of all customer accessible electronics on a single pivoting-out, detachable chassis.

Fig. 1 shows the footprint of the PC (personal computer) prior to servicing. With the PC on its face (Fig. 2) two screws (not shown) are removed to enable serviceability. The electronics assembly 1 can now be pivoted away from the personal computer covers 2 and made completely accessible for service, meaning the addition of a number of available electronics packages (floppy disk, hard file, etc.) into the provided area 3. See Fig. 3. The addition of expansion cards into area 4 is also available. All service can be performed by the customer, if so desired, since detachment of the electronics assembly (Fig. 3) from the personal computer is achieved by removal of an elastic wishbone (not shown), whereby customer accessibility to electronics and service thereof is located on a single pivoting-out assembly detachable from the main body.

It is also noted that this method of servicing uses 1/3 to 1/2 the footprint required by existing designs.
