Abstract

Disclosed is a subroutine for a 16-bit floating-point square-root algorithm. The implementation is for an 8-bit 8052 microcontroller and is based on the Newton-Raphson approximation method [*]. The software is written in ASM51 microcode which is the assembly level microprocessor software language of the Intel 8052 line of microcontrollers.
