Circular Brush Manufacturing Method

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing the core for circular brushes of a type used in a known document processor to hold paper in contact with read/write heads for MICR character recognition.

Figure 1 shows that nylon bristle material 1 is laid radially on plate 2 between vertical partitions 3. Figure 2 shows that plate 4 is then lowered atop bristles 1 with partitions 3 passing freely through slots 5. Plates 2 and 4 are then clamped together while the inner ends of bristles 6 are machined to a common diameter and then subjected to heat and pressure fusing them into a solid mass. This core is then mounted between presently used side flanges to complete the brush unit assembly.
