Overlapped Selection Icons

Provide a technique to allow overlapping selectable icons to overcome deficiencies of conventional icon presentation and selection techniques.

The proposed technique provides for displaying and selecting icons as follows: 1. Allow icons to be overlapped one over another.

2. Each icon in the overlapping stack is individually selectable.

3. Selection of an icon highlights the icon and performs the action associated with selection. 4. The icon is kept in its place within the icon stack and does not overlay other icons ahead of it.

The benefits to the user are increased display space due to the stacking of icons, and the user saves worksteps in the icon selection and deselection process.
