Shrinking the Action Bar Until Icons Replace Menu Names

Provide a technique of automatically shrinking font sizes for action bar menu names until icons automatically replace the names compared to current techniques of action bar wrapping.

Provide a technique to allow the action bar menu names to be reduced in size as windows are reduced in size. Use a sizing technique which reduces font sizes for menu names. As the font size decreases to reading limit levels, automatically replace the menu names with abbreviations, mnemonics, and finally icons. Throughout the sizing action, the menu bar size is kept fixed at one display line and does not wrap.

The benefits to the user are consistent presentation of the menu bar and preserving visual placement of menu item position compared to unexpected menu bar wrapping and visual repositioning of items. This technique reinforces learning and remembering in different user situations and reduces errors due to cursor misplacement.
