Dynamic Terminal Management in Queued Access Systems

This invention relates to a method for managing terminal/user environments having selectively dissimilar logical attributes and being definable onto same or dissimilar physical resource configurations in a queued access system. The method steps comprise (a) creating class descriptions of terminals and users; (b) establishing at least a first and a second logically independent and functionally distinguishable reference terminal/user environment utilizing the class descriptions; (c) selecting at least one of the established terminal/user environments, and invoking said selected environments by defining them onto a first physical computing, communication, and storage resource configuration; (d) periodically removing at least one of the invoked environments from the system, including saving associated state information in recoverable storage; and (e) reinvoking a removed environment by referencing the associated saved state information in recoverable storage and defining said removed environment onto a second physical computing, communication, and storage resource configuration distinguishable from said first configuration.
